The Speech Language Institute provides ongoing continuing educational opportunities for speech-language pathologists (SLPs). Successfully completing these training sessions contributes to the necessary Continuing Education Units (CEUs) required for maintaining licenses and certifications. All trainings are offered in person and contribute towards accruing live CEUs.

- Counseling for Speech and Hearing Professionals (12 Hours)
- Course Description:
- This course explores the fundamental principles and practices of counseling within the context of speech pathology. Attendees will examine the role of counseling in the assessment and treatment of individuals with communication disorders across the lifespan. The course will cover various counseling theories and techniques applicable to speech pathology settings, including person-centered therapy, cognitive therapy, family systems theory, and motivational interviewing. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding the emotional and psychological aspects of communication disorders, addressing client and family concerns, facilitating adjustment to communication challenges, and promoting positive coping strategies.
